On the road
I'm still on vacation through the weekend, but as soon as I get home I start my FIFTY WEEKS TO BECOMING AN IRONMAN training program. (No, I don't have all the details quite worked out yet, but I'll post it all here whenever I have any little glimpse of enlightenment about it).
I heard a good saying on the radio today that I wanted to share (yeah, I was listening to conservative talk show radio on the road, go figure) that is appropriate to that 50-week training program that I'll be launching next week:
"You don't have to be great to start. But you have to start to be great."

And what did YOU do today to prepare yourself for Ironman Florida 2006?

Nuthin!!! Well except tonight I start this 10 week training program with the S.W.A.T. team...i.e. super wicked a$$ trainer..yikes!!!
After an 18 hour workday which included flying to another state, I skipped going to bars in hollywood to ride a stationary bike and listen to Zen and the art of triathlon on a podcast. I know, Im a tri geek.
I rode my bike a whoppin' 8 miles to map out a running course for tomorrow. And now that "tomorrow" is "today," I can report that I did, in fact, run 8 miles. More or less. I did not follow the bike route I'd ridden, and then my GPS battery conked out so my distance was approximate based on time. But... I ran!!! Slow and sluggish but putting one foot in front of the other.
